"But people have grown up with it – in the early days it was the mark of an educated household – and they wanted to get their hands on a piece of history, we think. "It's sold much quicker than normal – we haven't seen sales like this for a long time," said Hughes. When the announcement was made on 13 March that it would be the final set, there were 4,000 copies remaining, and that figure has now dropped to just 800, with expectations high of an imminent sell-out. I liked the owners libertarian politics, didnt like those that abused the freedom given to them. There were 12,000 copies printed of the 32-volume 2010 edition, which fills almost a metre and a half on book shelves and weighs 62 kilogrammes. Its a shame, just seems always some people that have to abuse freedom and ruin something good. Sure it got boring for the politico conservative flamers agreeing with each other, so they probably left too. Make a comment about car repair or goats or whatever and they made it into something political. Imagine general chat here only without any moderation. Then there was also a group of self proclaimed "conservatives" that made EVERYTHING into some big political fight. Why he felt he needed to private message a stranger and tell them that is totally beyond me, but didnt make me want to stick around and never went back. I made a rather innocuous post about something and got a private message from some weirdo telling me that he liked to wear diapers!? Had nothing to do with my post on car repair or whatever it was. When I went back few years later, it had gotten weird with lot people abusing the much freer rules over there. Anyway back then I moved to Countryside and posted less and less over there. (By way this is not the Countryside Forum, it is gone and this is a private forum offered by Chuck and company for their own amusement and profit). I started out over there long time ago and only occasionally posted on Countryside Forum. I loved the Backwoods forum and Homesteading forum but people are changing, more and more are asking me and the wife is all the work worth it, how long do you think you can do all you do. Fact is as I see it we have more and more people living on the internet, and that does not work with the homesteading idea. If you are homesteading you do not have time to post thousands of post, or post asking for friends and neighbors to play some kind of homesteading internet game. Backwoods got to the point it seemed to be mostly wanabes, now homesteading is getting that way. The work on a 120 acres, the gardening and the rest of the farm is a 7 day a week job. We are homesteaders, we have a large garden, herb garden, raise most of our food, can it several hundred cans a year, we can fish, deer, Groceries are bought once a month. I posted only a few hundred messages on Backwoods, a few hundred on this forum. To look at all the post took way too much time, lots of the old stopped posting. Changes were made some necessary, some maby not. Then every thing got messed up with fake posters, people trying to take down the board. That came and went, Back then I could go to the general board and look at the post and it only took a few minutes. It was 1998 and we had some real good members and I learned a lot. I found it right after I got on the internet. The first post I ever made was to the Backwoods Home Forum.
